Soy Sauce

This is Soy Sauce. She is a retired racing greyhound. Greyhounds are not common in my neighborhood. As a result she has been mistaken for a fox and a horse.

She hasn't been called a small bear yet, but give it time.

Sunday posts are short and sweet. (There's always something more to read during the week. Relax. It's Sunday.)

Just in case you missed it here are my posts from the previous week:

How to Clean Felt

knitting basket, crochet basket, yarn basket

Doesn't seem too related to knitting or crochet, right? Ah, but it does.

Ever since I've been getting into knitting and crochet, I have been amassing my army of yarn balls. And to be honest, they were beginning to overtake the apartment.

We were able to find this used basket on the street outside one night and decided it would be perfect for my yarn ball minions. The challenge was that the elements had already gotten to it, so while the "leather" portion of the basket was fine, the felt interior was dirty and just kinda gross.

My husband found the perfect solution with households products we already had at home.

Who knew? Vaccuum + Carpet Stain Cleaner + Glue Gun = New-To-Me Knitting Basket

Here are the 3 tools you need to clean felt:

Vaccuum, Carpet Stain Cleaner
The magic duo: Vaccuum and Carpet Stain Cleaner

Glue Gun
The Glue Gun

Kit Details:

Vaccuum - It was the vaccuum in the flat.

Carpet Stain Cleaner - Original Dr. Beckmann's Carpet Stain Remover (We got it at Waitrose.)

Glue Gun - Product Code: N18HW Cordless Glue Gun (We got it from Maplin.)

Here's the super easy guide to cleaning felt and saving some money on a knitting basket:

Step 1: Vaccuum the felt.

Step 2: Use Carpet Stain Cleaner on the felt. (Follow the directions on the bottle.)

Step 3: Dry the basket. (Preferably air dry outside.)

Step 4: Vaccuum the felt again.

Step 5: Glue any pieces down that may have fallen apart with the glue gun. (Helpful hint: The glue dries very fast. If you have a large surface to glue down, work quickly and do one section or line at a time.)

Now you're ready to load your new knitting basket with all of your yarn ball minions.

(I actually have more yarn balls than what fits in the basket, so I'm in need of another basket.)

Clean Basket
The final result: A clean basket for your yarn.

Hello.

The above is one of my favorite infographics from The Oatmeal. See the full picture here.

Welcome to my life.

It has been a bit crazy in the last few months. Who knew I would be moving countries, ending a good job, starting and ending another job, finishing graduate school, getting a dog, starting my own business…

This blog will try to put some order to all of it while still having some fun.

I like to eat, so most of the posts will be recipes for things I like or what my husband likes or what our dog likes.

I also like crafts, so I’ll include things I knit and crochet.

I also like yoga and technology. I have other blogs for that, but I’ll keep this blog updated with those posts as well.

Finally, I still like business, so I’ll keep updates on my new businesses. So watch out for the launch of my new online bakery: Little Bites by Ceci and the launch of my Etsy Store: Little Bites by Ceci
